Instructors across the curriculum play a key role in the development of proficient student writers. Writing center staff are willing to meet with you to discuss specific problems you may be encountering as you teach your courses. Please contact us for more information on scheduling meetings, seminars, and workshops both on an individual basis or in a group setting. Also, Writing Center staffers are willing to attend your classes to see how we might help as well as introduce your students to our services.
Toward that end, staff will provide assistance to students who are engaged in writing for any/all disciplines as they prepare or revise general academic writing, research papers, analyses, essays, speeches, and creative work. We expect to work with students on the following:
Students will initiate their writing center experience. Instructors may recommend that their students use the Writing Center, and they may certainly encourage use with incentives. For example, a student could be given an extension or a re-write opportunity if s/he logged a session or two in the Writing Center.
Almost certainly and especially at the outset, the writing center will not function perfectly, so we would like to hear your feedback; please let us know what we can do to make the center more useful for you and your students.
