The University of Minnesota Rochester Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology (BICB) Program will be holding a Research Symposium on Friday, January 15, 2010 in Rochester, MN. The purpose of this event is to bring together teams of scientists, administrators, and students from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMTC), the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR), the Hormel Institute, the Mayo Clinic, and IBM, as well as other researchers working in the field of biomedical informatics and computational biology. The scope of this event is to facilitate further collaborations in the area of biomedical informatics and computational biology.
The morning session of the BICB Research Symposium will cover a brief update of the BICB Program. Speakers from two of the four BICB seed grant teams will give research talks on the work that was funded by the 2008-09 Collaborative Seed Grant Program. There will be a keynote presentation on “Computers for Cures” given by Drew Flaada, Director of Mayo Collaboration and Emerging Solutions Development, IBM.
Over the noon hour, lunch will be provided and participants will be given the opportunity to review displays provided by institutions/centers that are involved in BICB related activities.
