The BICB program at the University of Minnesota Rochester is pleased to announcing the 3rd Annual Bioinformatics Industry Symposium on August 20, 2015 at the the Buy Theater in the Northrop Memorial Auditorium on the East Bank of the University Minnesota.
As a complement to the long-standing BICB Research Symposium, the BICB Industry Symposium will focus on the use of bioinformatics in marketplace application. Plenary sessions will align with this year’s theme, “The Future of Precision Agriculture and Medicine”. In addition, poster presentations will include wide-ranging topics in bioinformatics and computational biology. The symposium will also offer a panel discussion on translating bioinformatics research and applications to industry.
The goals of this Symposium are to provide background on the nature and application of bioinformatics and to facilitate a platform for discussion and networking on potential future collaboration opportunities between BICB and industry.
The BICB program began in 2007 as an inter-disciplinary research program administered out of the University of Minnesota Rochester. The BICB graduate program began in 2008. It currently has 61 graduate students (23 PhD and 37 MS students) and nearly 70 faculty members spread across the University’s Twin Cities and Rochester campuses, as well as its partners the Brain Sciences Center, The Hormel Institute, IBM, Mayo Clinic, and National Marrow Donor Program.
