The PSEO program covers the cost of tuition, required textbooks, lease of UMR laptop, and consumable course supplies. The PSEO program also does not include housing, meals, transportation costs, parking, or personal school supplies.
Registrations for PSEO students are processed through the Student Affairs office. You will meet with a Student Success Coach who will assist you with this process. Due to the integrated nature of the BS in Health Sciences curriculum, it is highly recommended that students attend full-time at UMR. Contact us for more information about registration.
Currently, all 1000 and 2000 level courses offered through the BS in Health Sciences program are available to PSEO students. However, PSEO students must still abide by prerequisite requirements.

Four (4) UMR credits are equal to one (1) high school credit. PSEO students must talk with their high school guidance counselor about their remaining high school graduation requirements and in order to determine what UMR courses would fulfill these requirements. During this discussion with their high school counselor, students will need to have the PSEO Notice of Student Registration and Credit Balance Sheet forms filled out and signed by their counselor. Yes. If you are a non-native English language speaker who has been in the United States fewer than five years, you will need to provide scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test.
You will want to check with the post-secondary institutions you are considering to determine if the course you would like to take for PSEO at UMR will transfer to those institutions. It is also recommended that you consult with your high school guidance counselor about this.
Yes, if you have been home-schooled for longer than a year, or if your school utilizes a narrative rather than GPA., you will need provide scores for the PSAT, PLAN, ACT, or SAT. It is recommended that all students submit standardized test scores. You do not need to provide official test score reports – a photocopy of the original is acceptable.

PSEO students may take PSEO-eligible Summer Session courses, but are responsible for all tuition, fees, and textbook costs. Be aware, however, that UMR has limited summer course offerings.

Yes. ID cards, also known as "U Cards," are available to PSEO students free of charge for the first card. You will get instructions on how to get your card during your PSEO Orientation.

Yes. The University of Minnesota Rochester will loan you a computer through the laptop prgoram. The laptop must be returned at the end of your last term with UMR. For more information about The Student Laptop Program, contact UMR’s Laptop Program Office.
