Youth programs yield benefits in academic achievement, behavior, educational progression and attainment, delinquency and crime, and labor market success. Recent studies in Minnesota found that youth programs reduce truancy, improve school performance, decrease high school dropouts, increase graduation rates, and result in higher lifetime earnings. Youth programs are also producing healthier life choices that reduce teen pregnancy, and the use of tobacco, alcohol, or illicit drugs in Rochester, we get a lot of kids off to a good start. We can make a good start better.
