Youth Development Professional Assistant

3- 8 pm Monday - Friday

Program Description

Youth programs yield benefits in academic achievement, behavior, educational progression and attainment, delinquency and crime, and labor market success.  Recent studies in Minnesota found that youth programs reduce truancy, improve school performance, decrease high school dropouts, increase graduation rates, and result in higher lifetime earnings.  Youth programs are also producing healthier life choices that reduce teen pregnancy, and the use of tobacco, alcohol, or illicit drugs in Rochester, we get a lot of kids off to a good start.  We can make a good start better.

Experience/Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to deal with the general public
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Valid state drivers license
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted tasks in conjunction with the day-to-day activities
  • Superior interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment
Job Duties
  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
  • Promote and stimulate program participation
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times
  • Plan and participate in special programs and/or events
  • May be required to drive Club van
  • Understand and adhere to all the organizational standards for the Club program
  • Understand the mission and philosophy of the local and national Boys & Girls Club
  • Research topics based on interest and needs of Club members
  • Promote members’ interest and participation in all Club programs
