Program Description

Experience/Education Requirements

The position in general requires excellent communications skills, excellent relationship building skills, the ability to model the YMCA Core Values and have the ability and desire to make a personal connection with the communities the YMCA serves.  Also required is an understanding of the basics of strength and cardiovascular training. CPR and First Aid certification is required - we will train.

Job Duties
  • See it, own it! Take responsibility for correcting the problems you see and cleaning things that need to be cleaned.
  • Meet and greet all volunteers, staff, members, program participants, etc. every day with a smile and hello.
  • Lend a hand! Offer to help others whenever possible. Unless it requires training you don't have, it's never, "not my job."
  • Give Thanks! Offer thanks to others when you see them lend a hand to others and look for ways to compliment and give praise when it is deserved.
  • Create a safe atmosphere in the fitness center through spotting individuals, instructing patrons on proper use of equipment etc.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform member orientations.
  • Keep equipment in safe working order through regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Have equipment repaired in a timely manner.
  • Assist with special fitness events.
