Welcome Center Representative

4 – 7 pm, Tuesday – Friday

Program Description

Education/Experience Required

The Welcome Center Representative in general requires excellent communication skills; excellent relationship building skills, the ability to model the YMCA Core Values and have the ability and desire to make a personal connection with the communities the YMCA serves.  Specifically, the Welcome Center Representative requires all staff be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requiremenst listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Job Duties
  • See it, own it! Take responsibility for correcting the problems you see and cleaning things that need to be cleaned.
  • Meet and greet all volunteers, staff, members, program participants, etc. every day with a smile and hello.
  • Lend a hand! Offer to help others whenever possible. Unless it requires training you don't have, it's never, "not my job."
  • Give Thanks! Offer thanks to others when you see them lend a hand to others and look for ways to compliment and give praise when it is deserved.
  • Provide outstanding customer service. Service First!
  • Scan members' cards and review data on screen.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Business Office transactions. Must have ability to sell memberships and programs on evenings and weekends. Must continually review Business Office information to remain up-to-date with programs and procedures.
  • Must be knowledgeable about our Y staff, contact information and current happenings and events.
  • Complete registrations for programs and memberships. Input information into the computer. Responsible for all cash transactions during shift. Run end-of-shift reports and cash out bag at end of each shift.
  • Record required information for members who forget their cards as well as all visiting members and guests.
  • Assist members and non-members with special requests.
  • Attend team meetings as required. Read all information as it pertains to the Welcome Center.
  • Sell snacks and service center items accordingly. Restock as needed.
  • Assist supervisor, directors, and others with special requests, helping with large mailings, addressing or labeling envelopes, assisting with special sales (fund-raising efforts, etc.).
  • Maintain a neat and orderly appearance at the Welcome Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management staff.
