Y Space After-School Attendant

Work Schedule

Typically 4:00-6:00pm, but schedule will vary, Monday – Friday

Position Description

Education/Experience Required
  • Previous experience working with youth
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer - Will train and needs to be completed within the first 30 days of employment
  • First Aid - Will train and needs to be completed within the first 30 days of employment
Job Duties
  • See it, own it! Take responsibility for correcting the problems you see and cleaning things that need to be cleaned.
  • Meet and greet all volunteers, staff, members, program participants, etc. every day with a smile and hello.
  • Lend a hand! Offer to help others whenever possible. Unless it requires training you don't have, it's never, "not my job."
  • Give Thanks! Offer thanks to others when you see them lend a hand to others and look for ways to compliment and give praise when it is deserved.
  • Show professional appearance every shift including wearing appropriate staff uniform.
  • Engage children in fun activities that promote and teach the YMCA Mission.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Maintain daily open communication with members, participants, and staff.
  • Report any risk management issues to the Youth and Family Director including suspected child abuse, accidents, and incidents.
  • Effectively deal with discipline and accident incidents.
  • Complete all appropriate records such as individual timecard, sign in sheets and cleaning sheets.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Address and redirect negative behaviors into positive pursuits.
  • Monitor equipment for safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Open Y SPACE at the beginning of shift and close it at the end of shift.
  • Check phone messages and follow up with appropriate actions.
  • Cover or assign any open cleaning numbers and make sure all cleaning assignments are completed.
  • Sign in children.
