Education and outreach programs of the Rochester Symphony & Chorale (RSOC) work primarily with elementary age students from regional school districts and diverse backgrounds (including minority, ESOL, and Free & Reduced Lunch Program based children). The programs, Honk, Squeak, Boom (HSSB) and Sounds of the Symphony (SOS), give them unique opportunities to experience hands on learning in classical music and orchestral instruments with professional RSO musicians.
Qualified candidate will have an interest in pursuing studies related to working in childhood development, cognitive learning, psychology, or other related health sciences for research field. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Must be well organized and able to plan and accomplish tasks within established deadlines. Background in or study of music or interest in classical music is helpful but not required.
Reports to Executive Director and supports RSOC Education/Outreach Committee and staff in coordinating HSSB & SOS program activities. Includes communicating and promoting programs to area schools and elementary school children & their families. Work with area music teachers for SOS program scheduling, lining up musicians to perform in area schools. Work with committee and ED to establish a program evaluation tool for tracking participation data and assessing program impact. Give presentation to the Education Committee and/or RSOC Board of Directors for program Work with Education/Outreach Committee to plan HSSB event on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
