Communication and Public Relations Historian

Description

Communications and Public Relations staff at UMR work with all areas of our campus, the local media, the University of Minnesota system, and the local community. The Communications and Public Relations Historian will collect and report on oral and video histories of people impacted by or impacting UMRs historical, current, or future development. Work will include a great deal of interaction with local professionals and VIPs.

Responsibilities
  • Monitoring media for potential items of historical importance
  • Planning and conducting interviews
  • Maintaining the organization of historical documents & files
  • General support for overall Institutional Advancement mission
Qualifications
  • Must be work-study eligible at UMR
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound problem-solving skills and maturity in judgment
  • Confident and Professional - comfortable talking with VIPs
  • Good computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office products, as well as experience using video cameras
  • Prior interviewing experience is desirable
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Additional Information

Hours

Flexible schedule - 2-4 hours per week
