Description

Communications and Public Relations staff at UMR work with all areas of our campus, the local media, the University of Minnesota system, and the local community. The Communications and Public Relations Writer will develop and draft stories for internal use and/or external publication by identifying interesting storylines, as well as following up on leads provided by UMR staff.

Responsibilities
  • Writing (press releases, stories, interviews, social-media and web content, public
  • relations-related communications)
  • Research (story-related topics)
  • Database (maintain records of stories and research)
  • General support for overall Institutional Advancement mission
Qualifications
  • Must be work-study eligible at UMR
  • Excellent computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong social media skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Good problem-solving skills and maturity in judgment
  • Confident and Professional
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality
Additional Information

Hours
  • Flexible schedule 2-4 hours per week
