Interdisciplinary Writing Research Project

This position requires:
  • Minimum 2 hours of work per week ($10.25 per hour), averaged across approx. 13 semester weeks (e.g. in one week you may be required to work for 1 hour, while in another week you may be required to work for 3 hours; schedule of work will be arranged in advance; additional hours may be available depending on research funds available)
  • Initial commitment for one semester (you may choose to sign up for at least one additional semester of work)
  • Commitment to meeting time of 60-120 minutes per week (averaged across the semester; in some weeks we may not need to meet; in some weeks we may need to meet for 1 hour in other weeks we may need to meet for longer than 1 hour; notice will be given in advance)
  • Willingness to undertake the following activities:
    • research skills/planning meeting attendance & participation
    • completion of assigned background reading
    • completion of training on research protocols
    • coding writing samples as per research protocols
    • careful recording of coding results; sharing of results via file sharing system
    • results analysis
    • collaboration with other project researchers
    • abiding by FERPA guidelines
  • Student has attained at least junior status

This position will give you:
  • Opportunity to attend a professional conference (travel expenses paid for by the project – conference opportunity in Spring 2012)
  • Opportunity for acknowledgment in publications arising from the research project
  • Opportunity for learning about writing in and across the disciplines
  • Research experience on a real research project (which may be successful or not)
