Restructuring Research Software into an
Innovative Curriculum Management System

Abstract

iSEAL is software for online curriculum delivery used in UM Rochester's Center for Learning Innovation (CLI). To best design the system to facilitate research and curriculum development, faculty needed to be involved more closely. An advisory committee was formed as a primary path of communication between the development team and the faculty group. The initial design process was facilitated by weekly interactive television sessions (ITV) with collaborators in the Twin Cities. Server and network infrastructure for iSEAL are provided by OIT. As iSEAL fills an interesting pedagogical niche, the development team and CLI faculty are working with OIT to discuss how to most effectively use iSEAL within the CLI’s unique, integrated curriculum.
