
The University of Minnesota Libraries provides UThink, a blogging platform based on Movable Type, for free to UMR staff and students. Visit the UThink page to learn more and start your own blog.
While creating or editing an entry, click the image icon in the toolbar
In the box that pops up, select Upload New Image
In the next screen, click the browse button to bring up the file selector for your operating system and choose the image you would like to upload. Once selected the filename will appear in the box:
with the file selected, click the UThink
button to upload the image to the server. When the upload button finishes you will be presented with a final screen to specify options for your image:
To ensure that the image fits in your blog entry, set the options as indicated above (Display in entry, Use thumbnail with 500 pixels width, Link to full size popup, Center alignment) and click the Finish button.
The blog software will generate the HTML code for your image and insert it into your blog post:
When you save or preview your entry the photo will appear:

Adding a YouTube video to a UThink blog entry is a simple of copy and pasting the embed code provided by YouTube. This embed code is on the video's individual page. To get to the video's page from the UMR YouTube channel, you will need to click the title below the view or the link labeled "View comments, related videos, and more".
On the video page, click the button labeled <Embed> below the video player and additional options will appear:

You may choose additional options from this box, including choosing the best size video for your blog. The HTML embed code for the options you selected will appear selected in a text box. Copy this HTML code and then paste it into your blog entry:

When you save or preview your entry, the video player will appear:
