Editing the Website using UMContent

What is UMContent?

UMContent is the University of Minnesota's Content Management System. It is a branded version of Oracle Universal Content Management System (formerly known as Stellent). It enables users (known as contributors) to easily manage pages, images and documents on the website using a web browser.

Contributors can:

• Edit page text (using an editor similar to Microsoft Word)
• Create links to other pages / websites
• Add new documents and images
• Replace existing documents and images

The role of the Webmaster is to:

• Approve changes to the site
• Create new pages
• Maintain the navigation (i.e. the yellow menu bars that reside at the top and the left hand side of the page)
• Manage the page design
• Grant access to new Contributors
• Assist with editing as necessary
