Before a document or image can be included in a page, it must be uploaded to the UMContent server. This requires visiting a different website to the one used for editing the actual pages: https://umcontent.umn.edu/prod/idcplg?IdcService=GET_DOC_PAGE&Action=GetTemplatePage&Page=HOME_PAGE. We will refer to this website as the "toolbox".
Note: Please ensure that images you upload are already resized to fit the page that you are adding them to - they should be no wider than 700 pixels. Microsoft Paint, which is including in all versions of Windows, can be used for this purpose.
Step 1: Go to the toolbox.
Step 2: Click on "New Check-in" on the top menu bar.

Step 3: Enter a descriptive title, and choose a type:
Step 4: Choose "UMR" for the security group.
Step 5: Click "Browse" next to "Primary File", and find the file to upload from your computer. Click "Check In".

Finish: You will see a confirmation screen to let you know that your file has been uploaded. It is now ready to be added to a page.
We recommend that wherever possible, you save documents as PDF files so that they are guaranteed to be viewable by most people. However, sometimes you will need to upload a spreadsheet or other document in its native format, which you can do using the steps above.
Note: These screenshots show an image being replaced, but the same procedure can be followed for any file.
Step 1: Go to the toolbox.
Step 2: Enter part of the filename or title of the file you're looking for into the quick search box and click "Quick Search".

Step 3: Choose your file from the search results. Click on the square icon under "Actions" and choose "Check Out".

Step 4: Click "Check In" to load the check in form.

Step 5: Click on "Browse" and choose the new file to upload from your computer, then click "Check In" (you can also change the title of the file if necessary at this stage).

Finish: You will see a confirmation screen to let you know that your file has been updated. In the case of an image, if your new image is of a different type to the old one (e.g. .gif vs .jpg), or it has a different height or width, be sure to edit any pages which include the image to ensure that they still work correctly.
