The Power of Partnership: Foundations

The foundation relations program aims to increase the amount of private foundation grants made to UMR academic programs, outreach events, and special projects. We seek to provide a service that is both strategic and coordinated. We assist in taking great ideas and making them into fundable projects in partnership with foundations whose funding initiatives align with UMR’s mission and strengths.

Many foundations focus their charitable giving on providing scholarship aid – and that continues to be a great need at UMR. In addition, there are a number of other ways that foundations may wish to form UMR partnerships:

• Funding new and innovative academic and community-based programs
• Partnering to support faculty or student research initiatives
• Supplying state-of-the-art equipment
• Establishing endowments (scholarships, professorships, chairs)
• Helping the university with its capital needs and facility expansion
• Matching grants for faculty/staff contributions
