Times: Mon 8-10, Tues 1-3, Fri 10-noon

Location: Room 392 (BSN skills lab), University Square

UMR Student Health Services is FREE to all UMR students. Please show student ID when you sign up for your appointment.

Schedule

UMR Student Health Services will be open Fall 2011 on Mondays 8-10 am, Tuesdays 1-3pm and Fridays 10am-noon. Tuberculin skin tests administered on the first Tuesday of the month, with readings on Friday of the same week.

Appointments

Students can sign up for a 30 minute appointment ahead of time or check in at the BSN office (390).

The UMR Student Health Services can provide:

Testing and Treatment

of common acute conditions including, but not limited to the following:

  • The common cold
  • Cough
  • Strep throat
  • Ear infections
  • Skin infections
  • Headache
  • Hives
  • Depression screening
  • Urinary tract infections/Bladder infections
  • Contraceptive counseling, including initiating short term prescriptions for birth control
  • Influenza
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Rash
  • Acne
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea

Individual and group education

Potential topics include:

  • Common acute illnesses
  • Depression/Anxiety/Stress
  • Sexually transmitted disease prevention
  • Health and wellness
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance abuse

Referral

When necessary, to a primary care provider for preventative health services, or an evaluation of conditions outside the scope of services provided by Student Health Services.

The scope of practice of the Student Health Services clinic will exclude dispensing or prescribing narcotics, such as for chronic pain or insomnia.
