Mental Health

While college is an exciting and fun time for learning, exploring and developing, it can also be challenging and stressful.  There are a number of resources on the UMR campus to help students handle the transition and journey through college.

Talk About It

  • Talk One-2-OneUMR’s Student Health Service provides a safe place to talk about your anxieties or issues with a medical professional, and to get a referral to a mental health provider, if necessary. Depression screenings also available.
  • Talk One2One: a free 24 hour help line for UMR students to call “any time, any problem, anywhere.” Speak with a licensed counselor about any issue, topic or challenge.  Free, confidential and available anytime. In person counseling sessions with a local mental health provider can also be arranged, free (up to 3 visits) through Talk One2One. 800.756.3124 www.studenttalkone2one.com

Self Assessment

The University of Minnesota offers online self assessment for depression, generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, and alcohol.  This free screening is made available to all UMN students and is taken anonymously. The screening is provided so that you may find out - in a few minutes - whether or not a professional consultation would be helpful to you. If your score suggests you are likely to need assistance, please call to make an appointment at the UMR Student Health service or call Talk One2One at 800.756.3124.

Disability Services

Disability Services is the office which works with students with all types of disability conditions, including students with psychiatric, physical, and learning disabilities.  Students who have a diagnosed severe and persistent mental health condition may be entitled to reasonable accommodations.
