Housing Application Process in 4 Steps
Step 1: Complete the housing application and housing contract.
Step 2: Pay the non-refundable application fee.
Step 3: Select a roommate(s).
Step 4: Select housing assignment (returning students ONLY).
- First Year, Transfer and PSEO students will have their housing assigned manually by the Office of Residential Life.
The 2024-25 housing application opens February 12 and closes on June 1, 2024. All four steps of the application process must be completed by the deadline to secure housing. Students who do not complete all four steps will be placed on a waitlist.
Important Dates
February 12: Housing application opens.
June 1: Housing application closes.
June 14: Roommate groups must be finalized.
June 15-July 1: Room selection for students in their third year and above through the lottery system.
July 2-15: Room selection for students in their second year through the lottery system.
July 16-31: Housing assignments are made for first year, transfer and PSEO students.
September 3: First day of fall semester.
Reminder of UMR Housing Requirements
Exceptions will not be granted for students who claim they were not aware of the requirements. Please ensure you thoroughly read each requirement.

Complete the Summer Housing Application on eRezLife by April 28, 2024.

Housing Contract and Terms
Individuals that apply for housing after the deadline or fail to complete a step by the deadline will be placed on a waitlist and will receive their housing assignment later than those who apply by the deadline.
Students should email Residential Life at rhousing@r.umn.edu to initiate the cancellation process.
- Cancellations prior to June 1, 2024: loss of non-refundable application fee
- Cancellations between June 1, 2024 & the start of the contract period: loss of non-refundable application fee + a $250 cancellation fee
- Cancellations once the contract period begins: students must complete the UMR Housing Contract Release Request Form.
- Approved Requests: loss of non-refundable application fee, $350 cancellation fee, and a pro-rated amount for the number of days resided in housing.
Students in need of a housing accommodation should schedule an intake appointment with the UMR Disability Coordinator by emailing disability@r.umn.edu.
Deadline: the complete housing accommodation process should be completed prior to June 1 of the fall semester the student is enrolling in. Housing accommodation requests made after this deadline will depend on space availability.
