Students in Service (SIS)

Students in Service (SIS) is a part-time AmeriCorps program which encourages and supports college and university students to enroll as part-time AmeriCorps members who provide valuable service in their communities. SIS members make a difference in their communities, gain valuable civic and workforce skills, and upon completion of their term of service, earn an education award.  By participating in the SIS program, a student becomes a part of the AmeriCorps national service network, which improves lives and strengthens communities throughout America.

The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) participates in the 300 hours program which provides students who complete their hours with a $1,132 education award.  UMR accepts applications for this program at the beginning of both the Fall and Spring semesters.
