About

Terry Whittum joined the University of Minnesota Rochester with more than 40 years of experience in higher education, including leadership in enrollment management, financial aid, retention, marketing, student success, student affairs and student engagement. His background spans graduate, professional, nontraditional and online enrollment management across a wide range of institutional types, including Christian colleges, seminaries, a highly selective R1 university, a leading performing arts conservatory, a women’s college, and engineering, pharmacy, law and medical schools.

Most recently, at the University of Minnesota Rochester, Whittum led the Admissions team that achieved an 80% increase in new student enrollment. Prior to that, he served as the first vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at the Boston Conservatory, now the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. In that role, he oversaw recruitment and admission, financial aid, the registrar, recruitment marketing, the bursar, student affairs, student life, housing, career services, orientation, counseling and wellness services. During his tenure, the Conservatory increased new student enrollment by 43% and improved yield from 30% to 37%. He also served on the senior transition team guiding the Conservatory’s merger with Berklee College of Music.

For more than two decades, Whittum was a senior associate consultant with Ruffalo Noel Levitz, working with more than 30 institutions, including the University of Tennessee and the Culinary Institute of America.

He is the principal of Terry Whittum Strategic Solutions, LLC, which provides enrollment and financial aid consulting to schools of music, including the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and the Berklee College of Music.
