Background and Teaching
Kiet T. Tran holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California Davis. His research background is in synthetic organic chemistry and chemical biology. His doctoral work, under Professor Peter A. Beal, involved the synthesis of nucleoside analogs for RNA Tethering molecular screens and studies on adenosine deaminases acting on RNA (ADARs). Before coming to UMR he taught General and Organic Chemistry at UC Davis as Head Teaching Assistant for two years and served as Associate Instructor for one year. He had also taught Experimental Organic Chemistry as a Teaching Associate for two years at California State University Fullerton. Dr. Tran works in tandem with other UMR faculty to teach Organic Chemistry courses.
