7th Annual BICB Research Symposium
January 16, 2015 | 10:15 AM - 4:00 PM
The BICB program at the University of Minnesota Rochester is announcing the 7th annual Bioinformatics Research Symposium to be held on January 16, 2015 at the University Minnesota Rochester. The theme for this year’s symposium is “From Data to Decision Making”.
As a complement to the BICB Industry Symposium, the BICB Research Symposium will focus on the use of bioinformatics research at the University of Minnesota and BICB Partners. Plenary presentations will range from clinical and agricultural applications to computational topics. Poster presentations of ongoing research of BICB faculty and students will include topics from a variety of bioinformatics and computational biology fields.
The symposium will provide venues for the annual BICB Graduate Faculty meeting, which will focus on BICB learning goals and strategic planning, and a BICB Graduate Student meeting, which will focus on community building in a geographically and scholarly diverse program.
The BICB program started in 2007 as an inter-disciplinary research program administered by the University of Minnesota Rochester. The BICB graduate program admitted its first students in Fall 2008. It has grown to 76 graduate students (30 PhD and 46 MS students) and nearly 70 faculty members spread across the University’s Twin Cities and Rochester campuses, as well as its partners the Brain Sciences Center, Cray Inc., The Hormel Institute, IBM, Mayo Clinic, and National Marrow Donor Program.
