2024 Scholarship Celebration

UMR celebrated scholarship recipients and benefactors at the 2024 Scholarship Celebration on October 6. Joined by parents and families celebrating Parent & Family Weekend at UMR, more than 350 student scholars, benefactors and other members of the UMR community heard from four student speakers who shared their gratitude for the generosity of their benefactors. 

“Had it not been for the generosity of my benefactor in selecting me as one of the recipients, I may not have been able to join UMR. This scholarship is an important academic recognition that will support my present and future endeavors in my pursuit of becoming a cardiovascular physician,” shared Maria Garcia-Moya, a second year student at UMR. 

At the University of Minnesota Rochester, 100% of students are considered for scholarships with $1.1 million awarded to students in 2023-24. 

“I am grateful to have received these scholarships. These scholarships not only support my studies but also reinforce my belief that education can transform lives… Scholarships play a crucial role in making education attainable and fostering a more diverse and educated workforce,” shared Attoria McDonald, a first year at UMR.  

Scholarships ensure that all students, regardless of their financial background, can thrive in the innovative and inclusive learning environment found at UMR that empowers the next generation of leaders in healthcare and beyond.

 “Our scholarship recipients are not just students—they are future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers, and it's incredible to witness the impact your generosity has on their journeys,” shared Lindsey Hemker, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the Scholarship Celebration.
