10 Questions to Ask When You Visit UMR
Authored By: wells438 01/27/2025It’s college visit season and we are hopeful that UMR is on your student’s list to visit. Our Admissions Counselors have put together a list of questions that might help you gather valuable insight on campus life from academic to social perspectives.
1) On average, how many credits do first-year students take? What support systems are in place to help them with the academic transition to college?
2) What are student success coaches? How do they differ from a typical academic advisor? How often will a student meet with them?
3) Do professors teach first-year classes or TAs? Do they hold office hours every week?
4) What words would you use to describe the campus culture?
5) What kind of student flourishes at UMR?
6) What is one piece of advice you would give an incoming first-year student?
7) What is your favorite annual event at UMR?
8 ) What do you think students here find surprising or unexpected when they start their first year?
9) Do you guarantee housing for first-year students? What does this process look like?
10) Are there opportunities to get involved in the community and find internships and jobs?
Finding out the answers to the questions will help your student decide if UMR is the best fit for them - hint: if they have a passion for health care, we think they’d like it here!
