Recreation Offerings

Recreation programs include Raptor Recreation and intramural activities that promote student well‑being and active living. Students can also take part in outdoor recreation by checking out bikes and gear through the Outdoor Gear Library.

Intramural Location

All intramurals will be held at the Rochester Community and Technical College Regional Sports Center for the 2026‑27 year.

Info & Sign‑up Night

Friday, Sept. 18 — 10 a.m.

Cost

Each student will be charged $50 per sport each semester.

Account Requirement

Those participating in intramurals must create an account and join a team on IMLeagues.com by following the instructions below.

To create an IMLeagues account:
  • Go to imleagues for registration.
    or
  • Go to imleague and click Create Account.
    or
  • Go to imleagues and click “Log in with Facebook” if you have a Facebook account with your University email attached - this will automatically create an account, fill in your info and join you to UMN Rochester (steps 2-4).
  • Enter your information, and use your University email (@umn.edu) and submit.
  • You will be sent an activation email, click the link in the email to login and activate your IMLeagues account.
  • You should be automatically joined to UMN Rochester – If not you can search by clicking the “Schools” link.
How to sign up for an intramural sport:
  • Log in to your IMLeagues account.
  • Click the Create/Join Team button at the top right of your user homepage.
    OR
  • Click on the “University of Minnesota Rochester” link to go to UMN Rochester’s homepage on IMLeagues.
  • The current sports will be displayed, click on the sport you wish to join.
  • Choose the league you wish to play in.
  • Choose the division you’d like to play in.
  • You can join the sport one of three ways:
    • Create a team (for team captains).
      • Captains can invite members to their team by clicking the “Invite Members” link on the team page. Any invited members must accept the invitation to be joined to your team.
        • If they’ve already registered on IMLeagues: search for their name and invite them.
        • If they haven’t yet registered on IMLeagues: scroll down to the “Invite by Email Address” box and input their email address.
    • Join a team
      • Use the Create/Join Team button at top right of every page.
        OR
      • Accept a request from the captain to join their team.
        OR
      • Find the team and captain name on the division/league page and request to join.
        OR
      • Go to the captain’s playercard page, view their team and request to join.
    • Join as a Free Agent
      • You can list yourself as a free agent in as many divisions within a league as you'd like. You will be visible to all members of the site and can request to join teams, or post information about yourself so teams can request to add you to their team.

Raptor Recreation

Recreational Activities 

All students who pay the student activity fee can participate in Raptor Recreation activities and receive full access to the following in the Student Life Center (SLC):

  • Workout equipment in the Rec Center and Fitness Studio
  • Open swim times at the UMN Rochester pool in the SLC basement
  • Wellness consultations, InBody assessments and personal training programs
  • Weekly group fitness classes in the Wellness Studio, offered this academic year:
    • Yoga
    • Dance
    • H.I.I.T
    • Pilates
    • Strength and cardio
    • EDM spin

Biking

How to check out bikes

Students can check out bikes at the Student Life Center front desk during open hours. Bikes must be returned by the end of the day.

Currently available bikes

UMN Rochester has 10 bikes available for checkout. Bike locks and helmets are included.

Where students can bike

The City of Rochester provides a map of bike trails and walking paths across the area. Biking is allowed on sidewalks except in the Central Business District downtown.

Where to store bikes

Bike rooms are located in the Student Life Center, 318 Commons and Residence at Discovery Square. Ask a front desk staff member for access.
