Resident Assistants

Being an RA has allowed me to develop my leadership skills. I am able to be an example to others of what you can achieve when you work with an amazing group of people.

- Hannah, UMR Senior

Resident Assistants at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR)

Resident Assistants (RAs) are a foundational component to the success of the Office of Residential Life. RAs have an enormous opportunity and responsibility to enhance the experience that University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) students have while living on campus and attending the UMR. The RA is primarily responsible for a group of students living in their community but also for the greater student population living in 318 Commons and Student Life Center.

The RA works to foster an inclusive living and learning environment with an emphasis on academic success, building healthy relationships, personal growth, responsibility, respect, leadership and citizenship. As a facilitator of a positive and inclusive community experience, an RA serves as a resource person, peer advisor, community developer, event planner and role model for students living and learning at UMR.
