We stand ready to partner with you in making a smooth transition to living and learning at UMR.
Traditionally, UMR has offered students and families an on-campus summer orientation and registration program. The COVID 19 Pandemic has challenged all of us to be adaptive and innovative. Our new Summer Online Advising and Registration (SOAR) Experience is a product of these demands.
Parent and Family Resources can be found linked on the right of this page.
UMR is confident that you will find this alternative orientation experience a meaningful and effective means to:
- Connect with your incoming classmates.
- Meet your Student Orientation and Welcome Week Leaders (OWLS).
- Consult with the team of educational professionals dedicated to your success and well-being.
Accessing SOAR resources and programming will also allow you and your families to learn more about UMR majors and career pathways, financial aid, residential life, student organizations and other University services. With the assistance of your Success Coaches and OWLS, all students will leave SOAR fully registered for the Fall 2020 semester.

Activate your Internet Account. You will need your Internet ID and password to begin your online orientation, schedule an appointment with your success coach, register for classes, and access the University's online resources.
From the UMR Homepage, login to your MyU Portal to access your university email account for an email invitation to join the "UMR Registration 2020" canvas course. Once in the course, click on "Announcements" to view the SOAR checklist for you to complete. Between June 1-July 1 complete the SOAR Checklist. All students must complete the SOAR Checklist before scheduling an appointment with their Success Coach and registering for classes.
