New Raptor Orientation

Orientation is a critical process in the successful transition of new college students. The University of Minnesota Rochester welcomes and helps support new students in their UMR and Rochester transition by following a community of wellness model which highlights the following key areas:

New Raptor Orientation Dates

New Raptor 2018 Advising and Registration Days will take place in June and July. All new students must sign up and attend one of the days. A last advising and registration day is reserved for a small number of students who cannot attend in June or July. Watch for more details.

2018 Key Dates

  • Advising and Registration Day (sign up here) - June 19, 20, 22 or July 13, 16, 17
  • New Raptor Orientation - Saturday, August 25 - Monday, September 3
  • 318 Commons Move-in - 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25
  • New Raptor (and Family) Orientation Kickoff - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25
  • First Day of UMR Classes - Tuesday, September 4
  • Raptor Welcome Week - September 1 - September 8

 

Orientation and Welcome Leaders

In order to ensure the best transition for new students, UMR relies on key faculty, staff and students to welcome and support new students. Student Orientation and Welcome Leaders (OWLs) are hired to lead new students through the UMR orientation period. OWLs will work in teams of two, along with 318 Commons Resident Assistants and Community Assistants.
