Group Campus Visits

UUMR Group Student Visit Day 1MR works closely with high schools and community organizations to bring college-bound students to experience UMR in person. A group visit is a great way to introduce your group to the UMR campus and to college.

Our small, urban campus is best experienced in person! As a health sciences university, we are an especially good fit for groups of students with interest in health science careers.  We generally schedule group visits Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The group visit option is designed for groups of 8 or more students who will be on campus as part of a school field trip or community organization event.

Visit Requirements

  • Reservation requests should be made at least three weeks in advance.
  • Groups must provide one chaperone for every 15 students visiting the campus.
  • Maximum group size is 60 health science interested students plus chaperones. Given the small size of our campus, smaller groups work better than larger groups.
  • We ask your group to respect UMR and its students, faculty, staff, and facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we come on a Saturday?

UMR does not offer visits on weekends, University holidays, or during previously scheduled admissions events. We can generally accommodate visits Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.

How long will the visit last?

We can be flexible with visit length depending on the needs of your group. At a minimum, 30-45 minutes can provide a quick campus tour, 60 minutes can provide a tour of campus and housing, and 90 minutes can provide a general information session and an hour long tour. With 2.5-3 hours, we can include a classroom experience, tour of downtown Rochester, or other appropriate activity.

Do you have bus parking?

We do not have bus parking in downtown Rochester. Buses usually drop students off on Broadway outside our campus at the Shops at University Square and then drive to a bus depot, Walmart North, or Target North to park the bus until it is time to pick up students.

Can we hear about different majors?

UMR offers two undergraduate majors: the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and the Bachelor of Science in Health Professions. The visit will cover general information about college, but will also focus on opportunities in the health field because we are a health-science university.
