Area of Focus: Pre-Med and Patient Care

As a nontraditional student returning to school for a career change, Rosanna Smith ’24 was drawn to the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) because of its partnership with Mayo Clinic—specifically, its nuclear medicine technologist pathway.

Through this pathway and her Capstone experience, she was able to get classroom training experience specific to nuclear medicine and obtain an internship at Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences that allowed her to get hands-on clinical experience.

“[These experiences] helped me face the challenges of this career in a supportive learning environment and prepared me to successfully pass the certification exam required,” Smith said.

Smith is currently a full-time nuclear medicine technologist at Mayo Clinic.
