Student Life Center Grand Opening

The University of Minnesota Rochester celebrated the grand opening of the Student Life Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony. UMR staff, faculty, students, supporters and members of the community gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion.

The Student Life Center is home to UMR’s newest residence hall for first-year students, Admissions Welcome Center, Intercultural Center, fitness facilities and dining services. 

This newly renovated space was designed with student experience at the forefront emphasizing community building and well-being. 

Residence Hall Rooms

This building contains 411 fully furnished rooms for UMR students that include closet space and a shared bathroom. Each floor has two lounges for student programming and studying. 

Admissions Welcome Center

Prospective students are immersed into the heart of student life from the moment they walk into the new Admissions space. 

Intercultural Center

A space to gather and provide diversity and inclusion programming for the entire UMR community. 

Fitness Facilities

Students can enjoy recreational activities on campus with new fitness amenities including a studio fitness room, cardio workout space and weightlifting equipment. 

Dining Services

Students living in the Student Life Center participate in a meal plan. UMR’s new dining facility provides students with a variety of healthy options and unlocks countless opportunities for connection.

“We have so much gratitude  -- for the skilled tradespeople who crafted this wonderful, repurposed facility; for our partners at Titan; for the founders who worked for decades to bring this campus to Rochester; for the faculty and staff who commit their expertise to fuel student success; for the City, DMC, Mayo Clinic and all those who support our students; and especially, for the students themselves who have chosen to live and learn here as they prepare to make a difference in the world through a career in health,” said Lori Carrell, University of Minnesota Rochester Chancellor. 

Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors, UMR staff and leadership, Titan Development and UMR’s Rochester Student Association president along with mascot Rockie celebrated the Student Life Center grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
