On Tuesday, February 24, University of Minnesota alumni, faculty, staff and students from all five campuses came together to advocate for the school’s legislative priorities at the Minnesota State Capitol.

The rotunda was filled with maroon and gold and the day featured a variety of events and opportunities for the U of M community to engage with local legislators and legislative staff. University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) students had the chance to meet with Representative Mohamud Noor, Senator Aric Putnam, Senator Grant Hauschild, Senator Liz Boldon, Representative Andrew Smith, Representative Roger Skraba, Senator Eric Pratt, Representative Bernie Perryman and Representative Ben Bakeberg. UMR students shared personal stories about how the University of Minnesota has shaped their lives and future careers in health care.

Doha Wahba, UMR Rochester Student Association president shared,  “This day is important because it allows students to share their stories and perspectives in a way that creates change, and can directly impact students. It is also a leadership opportunity for students to practice advocacy, both for themselves and others.”
