The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is thrilled to announce the winners of its very first New Year’s Card Design Contest, a celebration of student artistry and campus spirit. This year’s submissions were inspired by themes of educational innovation, UMR’s impact on health care and the student experience at UMR.

Each submission offered a distinct and meaningful perspective on UMR’s mission, advancing educational innovation, transforming health care and enriching the student experience in Rochester. All submissions contributed to a remarkable collection that highlights the depth of creativity, artistry and thoughtfulness within UMR’s student community.

Olivia John’s design was chosen for UMR’s official 2026 New Year’s card, a piece that captures the spirit of our campus. Runner-ups Leah Frenkel and Katarina Bartz were recognized for their imaginative submissions that reflect UMR’s core values.

Olivia John – Winner
