University of Minnesota Rochester Earns Career Development Recognition from Colleges of Distinction

Colleges of Distinction is proud to recognize University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) for its exceptional commitment to preparing students for lifelong career success. As a recipient of the 2025-26 Career Development badge, UMR has demonstrated a clear dedication to helping students translate their college experience into meaningful careers.

Earning a college degree is an important milestone, but a successful transition to the workforce requires more than a diploma, especially in the face of economic uncertainty. In awarding this recognition, Colleges of Distinction evaluates schools based on their delivery of career-centered programming in the following resources:

  • Integrated Career Exploration and Preparation
    • Introduction to the career services office during new student orientation and the first semester.
    • Integration of  career resources into the classroom.
    • Guidance via their Student Success Coach and The Hub to help students navigate the services available at different stages of their academic journey.
    • Emphasis on career exploration across all fields of health sciences..
  • Accessible Programs and Training
    • 24/7 online access to career services resources.
    • A dedicated Student Success Coach that guides them academically, personally and professionally throughout their entire duration at UMR.
    • Mentorship and internship program offerings that connect students with alumni and industry professionals.

“UMR empowers students not only to find jobs but to launch meaningful careers, going far beyond job boards and mock interviews; they deliver a holistic and proactive approach to post-graduate success,”  Schritter added.
