Nuclear Medicine Technology Capstone Experience

Nuclear Medicine Technology is a one-year Capstone Experience offered in collaboration with Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences (MCSHS).

Nuclear Medicine Technology is, according to the Mayo Clinic website, "a medical specialty that uses radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals, for diagnosis, management, treatment, and medical research." Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate from MCSHS which allows them to take the professional certification examination. Nuclear medicine technologists are in high demand, and have numerous opportunities for professional growth and specialization in areas such as nuclear cardiology, computed tomography and positron emission tomography.

Application to the program is competitive and requires completion of a variety of prerequisite courses, minimum GPA standards and an interview. Check out the Nuclear Medical Technologist planning guide prepared by UMR’s Success Coaches to prepare for this accelerated program.

Visit the MCSHS Nuclear Medicine Technology website to learn more details about the program, application process, costs and career opportunities. If you have further questions, contact the program director:
