Welcome to your home away from home!
Located in the heart of Med City, the residence halls at the University of Minnesota Rochester which include the Student Life Center, 318 Commons and Residence at Discovery Square are ideal living learning environments for emerging health care professionals.
First & Second Year Live-On Requirement:
In alignment with UMR’s grounding value of “evidence based decision making,” significant evidence clearly shows students are more successful if they live on campus during their first and second years of college. Because student success is a top priority, UMR requires all first and second year students to live in UMR approved on-campus housing. Learn more about first and second year live-on requirements.
Students in their 3+ years at UMR are welcomed but not required to live on campus.
Benefits of Living on Campus Include:
- A strong sense of community and connection to campus
- Proximity to classes, academic support, recreation and wellness facilities, dining facilities, programming and extracurricular activities
- Participation in a Living Learning Community
- Safety and security
- Opportunities for on-campus employment
- Walkable proximity to Mayo Clinic and internships, work-study and job shadowing opportunities
- Guaranteed housing
Living Learning Community Requirement:
All first year students must belong to a Living Learning Community (LLC).
