Experiential Learning Opportunities

UMR students engage in meaningful experiences outside the classroom, contributing to career exploration, community impact, professional skill development and networking with health professionals.

The Hub is officially open! The Hub, located on the 3rd floor of USquare, is the connecting point for community engagement, study away and experiential learning opportunities such as internships, research and more.

Community Engagement

Many students engage in volunteer experiences during their time at UMR that is directly connected to a student’s academic journey.

Internships and Student Employment

Job placements and internships help students gain valuable hands-on-experiences that make them competitive in an ever-evolving health care field or job market.

Research Opportunities

Undergraduate students at UMR can pursue opportunities to conduct research with UMR faculty or off-campus at one of our partner organizations, such as Mayo Clinic.

Capstone Experience

A Capstone is a combined set of learning experiences focused on individualized objectives that aligns with each student’s personal and professional goals.

Study Away

Studying away can be one of the most rewarding experiences a student engages in. Students enrich their academic focus by having access to courses offered outside of UMR.

UMR Mentorships

A strong mentoring opportunity can be one of the most valuable components of a student’s educational experience and a valuable opportunity for students to develop professionally.

Funding Your Experience

A number of university and national scholarships and grants are available to help students fund their experiences beyond the classroom.
