Louis Stokes-North Star STEM Alliance (LS-NSSA) Program

UMR’s LS-NSSA program is designed to help eligible students succeed through peer mentoring, workshops, research opportunities, and more.  Funding opportunities include:

    • NSSA Scholars: Students in any year in college. Scholars attend alliance-wide activities and programming such as the Kick-Off event, industry tours, the Summer Opportunities Preview, Jump Start Your Job Search, Pursuing the Highest Degree workshop.

    • NSSA Research Student: Funding support for research students, including stipends and research supplies. Stipends support students conducting STEM research wherever the student is doing the research: UMR, Tiny Earth/Epidemiological Research, MnDRIVE Scholar,  Mayo Clinic, Hormel Institute, UMTC....     • Research travel: NSSA provides travel funding in addition to UMR's Raptor Research Fund so eligible students can present their research at conferences. 

      To receive LS-NSSA funding, students need to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
