About the Research Symposium

As a complement to the BICB Industry Symposium, the BICB Research Symposium will focus on the use of bioinformatics research at the University of Minnesota and BICB Partners. Plenary presentations will range from clinical applications to computational topics. Poster presentations of ongoing research of BICB faculty and students will include topics from a variety of bioinformatics and computational biology fields.

The symposium will provide venues for the annual BICB Graduate Faculty meeting, which will focus on BICB learning goals and strategic planning, and a BICB Graduate Student meeting, which will focus on community building in a geographically and scholarly diverse program. Additional conference information, including the agenda, will be posted when it becomes available.

The BICB program started in 2007 as an inter-disciplinary research program administered by the University of Minnesota Rochester. The BICB graduate program admitted its first students in Fall 2008. Currently graduate students and faculty members are spread across the University's Twin Cities and Rochester campuses, as well as its partners the Brain Sciences Center, The Hormel Institute, IBM, Mayo Clinic, and National Marrow Donor Program.
