Integrated BSHS/MS in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

This 4+1 program is offered in collaboration with the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering

The Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BICB) program and UMR offer an integrated degree opportunity for eligible BSHS students interested in pursuing the BICB MS degree.

The BICB graduate program provides interdisciplinary education in biomedical informatics and computational biology at the interface of quantitative sciences, medicine and biology. This program trains graduate students in the development and application of computational methods to work in interdisciplinary teams of life scientists and computational scientists. To prepare students for the workplace, the program offers industrial and clinical internships and training in business leadership, technology management and ethics.

Students admitted to the Integrated BSHS/BICB-MS take BICB courses during their final undergraduate year and complete the BICB-MS by taking the remaining credits as a full-time graduate student the following year.

The 4+1 BICB-MS planning guide developed by UMR’s Student Success Coaches is an excellent resource to consult as you prepare for this accelerated program.
