At UMR, we understand the process of applying to and selecting a college can be overwhelming. We hope this checklist will help.
✔️ Complete the online application. Your application file, which includes this application and all application required materials, must be complete before a decision can be made.
✔️ Pay the application fee. You can pay by credit card via the online application or make a check payable to the University of Minnesota Rochester. The non-refundable application fee is $30.
✔️ACT and/or SAT Reasoning scores (optional). Students can indicate on the application if they wish to have their test scores reviewed as part of the holistic review process.
✔️ Submit official transcripts.
✔️ First-year students - Must send official high school transcripts. If you have received a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), an official score report is required in addition to any available high school transcripts. Official college transcripts must be submitted for any PSEO and/or CIS work.
✔️ Transfer students - Must send official college transcripts for all schools attended. Must also send official final high school transcripts if transferring with less than 30 credits.
✔️ We receive official transcripts through Common App, Naviance, Docufide/Parchment, Scrip-Safe, National Student Clearinghouse, ETX (Electronic Transcript Exchange) and Transcripts Network. You are also more than welcome to have your institution mail us an official sealed copy.
✔️ Complete your passion for health care short answer question (required for scholarship consideration). Students who succeed at UMR are passionate about health care. Please describe your passion to pursue a career in health care. Provide any examples of how you have developed your passion over the years.
✔️ Teacher Evaluation and/or letter of recommendation, Math or Science teachers preferred. (optional). Letters can be mailed or emailed (email@example.com) to us from the recommender themselves only or listed in the online application. Letters of recommendation are not considered for Health Professions students.

- Deadline for Nursing and Pre-Physician Assistant students:

- Admissions Decision Deadline - June 1
Applications are still accepted and reviewed after deadline based on space availability.
✔️ Apply for admissions to the BSHS program at UMR. (A complete application must be submitted by December 1 in order to be considered for scholarships.)
✔️ Register to take any necessary entrance exams and have your scores sent to UMR at ACT code 2154 and/or SAT code 5877.
✔️ Ask for letters of recommendation from reliable contacts who are familiar with your goals and accomplishments.
✔️ Research scholarships and other opportunities for financial assistance.
✔️ Attend a Campus Visit Day.
Admissions Decision Deadline - June 1
✔️ Schedule a campus visit and begin making a list of questions to ask a UMR admissions representative.
✔️ Attend a VIP Day for Admitted Students. (Invitations are sent to accepted students in February.) This is a fun day for admitted students to learn more about their classmates, housing and general information about UMR.
✔️ After graduation, request for your final high school transcript to be sent to UMR (including graduation date).
✔️ Attend New Raptor Orientation.
✔️ Accept financial aid award package.
✔️ Attend the UMR Welcome Experience.
✔️ Start your college career at UMR!
