"There is really no price you can put on your advancement towards your future goals, just go for it!" - Courtnee, UMR Alumna

Application Fee
A non-refundable $200 administrative fee is charged to all NSE applicants. When you submit your application, you can bring a check made out to the University of Minnesota Rochester. This fee supports the operation of the NSE program, including services provided to you both before and during your exchange.

Tuition and Fees
There are two tuition plans available through NSE. You will need to meet with One Stop to decide which option is best for you.

Host Pay
UMR student pays in-state (resident) tuition and fees at their host NSE campus. Students placed on Host Pay are not billed tuition by UMR and are exempt from paying most UMR student services and university fees. Host Pay tuition rates for each NSE school are listed here.

Home Pay
UMR student pays University of Minnesota Rochester tuition and fees.

Other Fees/Expenses
You will be responsible for the costs you incur for transportation, personal expenses and sightseeing opportunities.

Fees paid to the host campus:

  • Housing and meals (If you live off-campus, you are also responsible for those costs.)

  • Fees that are assessed as a condition of enrollment (e.g., application, laboratory, general service, computer, technology, art and photography supplies, etc.).

What about financial aid?
We strongly encourage you to meet with a financial aid representative to learn more about your specific financial aid situation. Contact OneStop to schedule an appointment to discuss financial issues.

Students who participate in National Student Exchange are eligible for most forms of financial aid.
Students on Plan A and Plan B apply for and receive their funding from UMR (including most scholarships and grants). College Work Study funding cannot be applied to the National Student Exchange.
