Masters in Addiction Counseling

About the Program

The Masters in Addiction Counseling program is offered in collaboration with Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School (HBFGS).

This is an accelerated program that prepares undergraduate students to graduate with both a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) degree from the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) and a master's in counseling, specialty: addiction counseling from HBFGS in five years. Graduates are prepared to become caring and effective counselors and leaders in the field, with careers in addiction counseling, behavioral and mental health counseling, or prevention and education programs. Students can opt to complete either the online or hybrid version of the graduate program.

The 3+2 Masters in Addiction Counseling planning guide is an excellent resource to consult and includes detailed information on the application process.
