Want to build expertise in an area you care about? At UMR, you can deepen your knowledge by adding a concentration to your major.
A concentration is similar to a minor, but with an important difference:
- A concentration focuses on a specialized area within or closely related to your major.
- A minor is a separate area of study that doesn’t have to be related to your major.
UMR offers concentrations in the following areas:
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Biomedical Health
Key details about concentrations:
- Concentrations are optional.
- The courses taken in a concentration can be used to fulfill major requirements, while others can fill general education requirements.
Declaring a Concentration
Students must have junior standing, with at least 60 credits and one semester completed at UMR before declaring a concentration.

Financial Aid/Cost of Attendance
There is no change in tuition and fees for those declaring a concentration.
