VetFAST

About the Program

The VetFAST 3+4 program is offered in collaboration with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine offers an early admission program for students interested in food animal medicine. The Veterinary Food Animal Scholars Track, VetFAST, allows eligible students to earn both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in seven years.

The program is designed for students who want to become food animal veterinarians, addressing a growing need for these professionals in rural communities and government agencies. Students accepted into VetFAST receive early admission to the DVM program, mentorship from faculty and hands-on experience with food animal species.

The pre-vet planning guide, developed by University of Minnesota Rochester student success coaches, is a valuable resource for pre-vet and VetFAST students. Both the three-year and four-year sample plans should be reviewed in consultation with your student success coach to determine the most appropriate timeline.

Visit the College of Veterinary Medicine website to learn more details about the program, application process, costs and career opportunities.
