BSHS/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences

This program is offered in collaboration with the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy

This program allows undergraduate students to graduate with both a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Sciences degree from the University of Minnesota Rochester and Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in four and a half years.

Medical Laboratory Scientists, also known as clinical laboratory scientists or medical technologists, perform complex testing in laboratories requiring advanced technical skills and problem solving abilities. MLS practitioners work in a variety of laboratory settings including hospitals, clinics and doctor's offices as well as research, forensic, and reference laboratories.

Students would complete the Certificate program as their Capstone experience. This would include taking MLS coursework in the summer, fall, and spring of their final year, and completing their clinical rotations during either a final summer or fall term.
