Vishnuram Balasubramani, a University of Minnesota Rochester student from Tamil Nadu, India, spent 10 weeks this summer immersed in clinical research through Mayo Clinic’s Clinical Research Internship Study Program. With no prior experience, Balasubramani matched with a mentor in gastroenterology and gained hands-on skills in statistical analysis, manuscript writing and professional presentation. The experience, he said, helped shape his career goals in medicine and global health policy.
